Krista and I are big fans of Japanese food, particularly sashimi. We used to frequent Tsurunoya at The Mutiara Resort, Teluk Bahang for its value-for-money Sunday buffet whenever we felt like having a leisurely Japanese brunch. But it was a full 45-minute drive to Teluk Bahang!

Nowadays we have found a place closer where we indulge in our Japanese cravings - at the Kampaichi, Hotel Equatorial which is just 5 minutes’ away. Continue reading »

This week, I’m pointing you in the direction of Dean Hua’s blog which is truly a good place to start if you want to read and read some more.

I’ve known him for a while now (since our days of online networking in 2004) and he has always struck me as a very thoughtful and thought-provoking friend who is not shy about calling a cangkul a cangkul.

Dean does a lot of stuff and I am often impressed where he finds the time to do all that he sets out to do (I can hardly find time for myself, what more go online and schmooze.)

I can be quite picky too about people I connect with, having learnt the hard way on Ryze. After a while it got tiresome having all and sundry as one’s friends. I’d rather have quality over quantity. This I found out after about a year or so on Ryze.

So if you are on Xing or Facebook or whichever biz/social site that’s in vogue now, make sure you read Dean’s blog post on “Online Business Networking Best Practices for Xing”.

It will give you an idea of what you should do and what you should not do. I learnt lots too and I can assure you Dean’s post is of such good value that you should bookmark it. Make it your mantra for your next networking foray.

And if you have your 2 cents to add, his Comments section is always waiting.

Sometimes in the middle of the workday it is good to have a diversion. The beauty of being in USM is that we get to do some non-routine stuff, even on routine workdays.

Yesterday we met with an artist when we visited the USM Museum & Art Gallery. I’m often on the look out for new exhibitions - I believe there’s so much to learn from other artists.

Everyone’s in the holiday mood already!

The parking lot at Eureka Complex is quite empty today and that means we can park anywhere we want. Usually we would have to find a parking bay or at least try to find one as near to the stairs as possible.

So it means a lot of people have balik kampung already. There’s a smell of festivity in the air.

Anyway, we will be taking a break too. We will be back to work on Tuesday, 16th October.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all our Muslim friends and clients! Have your fill of lemang, rendang and Raya cookies.

Me? I hope to take it easy and catch up on my reading and art over the weekend.
