I first saw this intriguing book title in the bookstore. “Never Eat Alone and Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time” is by Keith Ferrazzi and he’s supposedly (according to Forbes and Inc.) one of the world’s most connected people.
In a business world that is increasingly disconnected (and competitive, may I add), more and more businesses are realising that the way to make themselves be seen is to be with the right crowd and hit the right connections. The truth is, people buy from people. Relationship is what counts.
Think of the last time you went shopping. Which store did you buy from? Why? Barring sales and discounted products, you would have shopped at your favourite store. The store staff might have been more helpful, less snobbish, or maybe you just liked the store owner, a friendly kind of person who chatted with you each time you went there.
Customers liked to be recognised and made to feel important. They don’t mind paying more if they can receive the most obliging smile, or made to feel like they matter.
Relationships lie at the heart of every business encounter. I believe it sincerely. Read what Keith Ferrazzi says in this interview. Or go out and get his book.
